TradingView Indicator · How I run it

How I run Every Gap - my setup, start to finish.

The settings I keep on, the ones I leave off, and how I read an opening gap. Pair this with the full Every Gap settings reference.

00

Quick start

Five steps from a blank chart to the setup I actually trade.

  1. Add the indicator and leave Auto HTF Selection on. It picks the two higher timeframes for you.
  2. Keep NWOG and NDOG on. They are on by default.
  3. Turn on the C.E. lines for the weekly and daily gaps.
  4. Leave Price Labels and Event Horizon off until you need them.
  5. Set alerts last. If you trade one window, turn on Session Filter and pick NY AM.
Good to know

Every Gap marks levels. It documents where gaps are, not what to do about them.

01

Chart timeframe

Auto HTF Selection keeps the context one or two steps above what you are looking at.

Auto HTF Selection on
Picks both higher timeframes from your chart. I leave it on so the context always sits above the chart I am reading.

02

Opening gaps

NWOG and NDOG are the reference ranges everything else is read against.

NWOG on
New Week Opening Gap. Draws on Daily and intraday charts.
NDOG on
New Day Opening Gap. Intraday charts only.
5pm to 6pm GAP on
Stays on for futures. On forex or stocks, turn it off to use previous close to current open instead.
C.E. lines on
Off by default. I turn them on for the weekly and daily gaps. The midpoint is a clean level to watch.
Price Labels off
Off until I need exact prices. Keeps the chart clean.
Event Horizon off
Off until I need it.
Previous NWOGs / NDOGs 4 each
Four of each by default, which is enough history.
How I read them

An opening gap is a reference range, not a signal. I look at where price is relative to the box, whether it has been inside it, and whether the C.E. line held.

03

HTF FVGs

Only the two nearest magnets per timeframe, never a wall of boxes.

The indicator keeps only the closest gap above and the closest below price for each higher timeframe. That is deliberate.

Touched versus closed

When price touches a gap without closing through it, the box turns the Mitigated/Touched color. A close through it removes it.

04

Chart TF gaps and Suspension Blocks

One gap at full strength so the chart stays readable.

Max Gaps to Store 5
Only the gap closest to price is shown at full strength.
Suspension Block
Needs three candles in the same direction with an FVG on both sides of the middle one. When a setup qualifies as both, you get the Suspension Block, not a plain FVG.
SB Fill Mode Body
Body is the default, so a close through the block removes it. Wick makes it stricter.
05

Direction Bias

Show both sides unless you already have a read.

Direction Bias Auto
Auto shows both directions. I only switch to Bull Only or Bear Only when I already have a read on the day and want the other side hidden.
06

SMT

Divergence between an asset and its peers, as a reason to look, not a trade.

Correlation on
On, with Auto picking the peer assets for you.
Show Only Correlated off
Off by default. Turn it on to see just the gaps that also formed on a peer.
What a line means

A line only appears when one asset fills a gap and its peer does not. That is a divergence, a reason to pay attention, not a trade on its own.

07

Alerts

Set last, and keep them quiet outside your window.

New Gap on
On.
SMT Fill off
Off by default.
Session Filter
If I only trade one window, I turn this on and pick NY AM (0830 to 1200 ET) so alerts stay quiet outside it.
08

A clean use

What a readable chart looks like.

  1. Weekly and daily gaps showing, C.E. on.
  2. Two HTF FVGs near price.
  3. One chart-TF gap or Suspension Block showing.

If the chart is crowded, turn something off instead of adding more.
